The GI Film Festival San Diego returns in 2017 with more great films and events that bring the stories of America’s military to life. The 2017 festival will feature film screenings, panel discussions, a family movie night, the awards ceremony and the Local Film Showcase, highlighting San Diego’s local military culture.



Attention Local filmmakers … The GI Film Festival San Diego wants to share your military or veteran film project during its third annual festival, October 18-22, 2017.  The Film Consortium San Diego will be partnering with KPBS to hold the Local Film Showcase during the festival.  Submissions are now open.   LEARN MORE.

The GI Film Festival San Diego is proud to present selections from THE VIETNAM WAR, the newest film from Ken Burns and Lynn Novick.  This special screening event tales place on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at the Balboa Theatre.  Discussion with the filmmakers will follow presentation.

About the film:

THE VIETNAM WAR is a ten-part, 18-hour documentary film series directed by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick that will air on PBS in September 2017.  This immersive 360-degree narrative tells the epic story of the Vietnam War as it has never before been told on film. THE VIETNAM WAR features testimony from nearly 100 witnesses, including many Americans who fought in the war and others who opposed it, as well as Vietnamese combatants and civilians from both the winning and losing sides
