“USO – FOR THE TROOPS” is an independent documentary produced and directed by EMMY winner Peter Schnall and Partisan Pictures. The film takes viewers behind the scenes of this iconic military support institution, tracing its history as a connection to home and hope for service personnel for over 75 years.  Filmmakers had unprecedented access to the USO operations that make it possible for celebrities and dignitaries to travel the world, to meet and perform for active duty troops.

Interviews with recent and past performers including Jon Stewart, Jay Leno, Ann-Margret, Raquel Welch, Connie Stevens, country singer Craig Morgan, Miss America Betty Cantrell and more are interspersed with moving first-person accounts from veterans and historians who discuss the USO’s mission and impact.  Former Secretary of State Colin Powell and President George W. Bush also appear.  The film airs Monday, November 7 at 9:00 pm on PBS stations nationwide (check local listings).  “USO – FOR THE TROOPS” is made possible by Johnson & Johnson.
