About the Filmmaker

Vanessa is an Oscar, Emmy, DuPont-Columbia and Sundance award-winning non-fiction filmmaker. Among her many films, she is the executive producer, writer and director of the Emmy-winning Netflix Original series, Daughters of Destiny and Academy Award-winning filmmaker for Freeheld (HBO).
Currently, she is directing the Untitled Mary J Blige documentary for Amazon Original and executive producing and directing the IMPACT series feature film for National Geographic with “Wonder Woman” Gal Gadot.
With outreach a core mission of her work, she creates tools for engagement and education for universities, organizations, and foundations focusing on youth empowerment, ethics, legacy, memory, history, and storytelling.
