About the Filmmaker

King Jaquell Martin is a native of Benton Harbor, MI. In high school he was athletically astute and excelled in every area of sports.  King enlisted in the United States Army with a passion to serve his country and make a better life for himself and his family.  Being a high achiever, he moved up the ranks to sergeant and held his position until an unforeseen and challenging incident brought him face to face with age old discrimination born of ignorance and racial hatred.  This experience inspired him to write his freshman biography, A War on Friendly Grounds.

Currently, King is pursuing a career in filmmaking as a director at the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles, CA.  As an author, he wants A War on Friendly Grounds to be a welcoming bridge between the public and police department.
